A Study on the Need for Visual Perception Test of Normal Elderly in Community

Abstract
Objectives : Firstly, this study tries to find out visual perception ability of normal elderly living in community. Secondly, it tires to announce importance of visual perception ability and needs to constant checking and maintenance and to utilize basic data for promoting good health after retirement.

Methods : We tested vsual perception ability for 18 normal elderly living in the community through MVPT. we analyzed visual perception disorder, visual negelct, and processing time. Also we analyzed correlation among the age, raw score and processing time.

Results : By analysing result of visual perception test, average raw scores of 60s and 70s were lower than normal range, but there were not people with visual neglect. The result of visual processing time was visual processing time exceeds the normal range were three people. Through correlation analysis result, MVPT raw scores were lower and processing time was longer by increasing with age.

Conclusion : In spite of the healthy seniors who did not experience visual perception disorder treatment in hospital have visual perception disorder which care givers did not recognize. We should know needs to constant checking and education in community to prevent second accident. Also systematic prevention healthcare service should be tried for community seniors.
